Utah Lake State Park

The most developed access point on Utah Lake — boat ramps, fishing pier, campground, and full facilities for anglers and families.

About Utah Lake State Park

Utah Lake State Park sits on the east shore of Utah Lake in Provo, providing the most developed recreational access to the lake. The park is the go-to destination for anglers looking for convenient facilities, easy boat launching, and excellent shore fishing from the park's fishing pier.

The park covers a compact area along the lakeshore but offers everything an angler needs: multiple boat ramp lanes, a fishing pier, a campground for overnight stays, picnic areas, restrooms, and easy parking. It's the most family-friendly fishing destination on Utah Lake.

Fishing at the State Park

The state park fishing pier is one of the most productive shore-fishing locations on Utah Lake. Anglers regularly catch channel catfish, bluegill, white bass, and occasional largemouth bass from the pier. Night fishing from the pier is particularly productive for catfish during summer months.

The boat ramps provide quick access to the east basin of the lake. From here, you can reach Provo Bay (bass fishing), the deeper central lake (walleye, white bass), and the southeast shoreline.

What You Can Catch

  • Channel Catfish — Bottom fish from the pier with nightcrawlers or stink bait. Best at night in summer.
  • Bluegill — Small jigs or worms under a bobber from the pier. Great for kids.
  • White Bass — Cast small jigs from the pier or boat during spring run.
  • Carp — Corn or doughbait on bottom rigs. Shore fishing along park shoreline.
